Council Member Ben Quintana

Since joining the City Council in 2011, Ben Quintana has focused on helping Boise become and remain a lasting, innovative, and vibrant city.  Enhancing Boise’s economic competitiveness and improving the livability of our neighborhoods are the top two city initiatives where Ben invests his time, energy, and leadership.

In addition to his City Council responsibilities, Ben is a Senior Manager in the Center for Learning and Development at St. Luke’s Health System.  In this role, he works to advance St. Luke’s mission of improving the health of people in our region by designing strategies, programs, processes, and resources to align and develop leaders that will transform health care.

Previously, Ben worked at the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce and the Boise Valley Economic Partnership, where he helped entrepreneurs and innovators start, grow, and expand their businesses.  He also led the Leadership Boise (LB) and LB Academy programs and started the LB Alumni Association.  One of Ben’s proudest accomplishments was starting and growing the Boise Young Professionals program into one of the largest and most successful Chamber-affiliated programs in the country with over 1,000 members from 400 different companies.

Ben continuously gives back to his community by serving on nonprofit boards, committees, and initiatives that strive to make Boise a more livable and economically competitive city.  He currently serves as the Council Sponsor for Boise Competes, Co-Chair of the Strategic Leadership Team for the Vista Neighborhood Project, Commissioner for the Capital City Development Corporation, a Dean’s Council Member for Boise State University’s School of Public Service, an Advisor for the Responsible Business Initiative through Boise State’s College of Business and Economics, an Ex-Officio Commissioner for Serve Idaho, and the Education Committee Chair for the Idaho Healthcare Executive Forum through the American College of Healthcare Executives.  Ben is also a frequent guest speaker to business groups, schools, and nonprofit organizations on the topics of leadership and service.

With his commitment to continuous growth and development, Ben seeks to learn something new and give back to his community every day.  He received a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from Boise State University, a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from George Fox University, and is a graduate of Leadership Boise, Boise Citizen Police Academy, and the Northwest Economic Development Course.  Ben has been recognized as one of the Idaho Business Review’s Accomplished Under 40 in Idaho, the Capital Lions Club’s Community Service Award, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 2015 Man of the Year for Idaho-Montana.

In January 2016, Ben and his wife, Christine, welcomed their first born son, Carter, to their family. The Quintana’s live in east Boise and enjoy spending their evenings and weekends on the Ridge to Rivers Trail System with their dog-kid, Tucker.
